UK SPACE AGENCY UNLOCKING SPACE FOR INVESTMENT
USI Investor Pathway is an initiative, backed by the UK Space Agency, dedicated to supporting private investors seeking to capitalise on the nascent UK space sector and leverage existing government investment. Prospects will create long-term, meaningful partnerships between investors, UK companies and the UK Space Agency.
MACH-X ROCKETRY COMPETITION
Mach-X competition series is brought to you by Discover Space UK, Exotopic, Machrihanish Airbase Community Company (MACC) and UKSEDS. The event gives university students an opportunity to develop practical, hands-on mechanical and electronics skills, with industrial technical support provided to the teams remotely.
In 2022 Exotopic supported the ATI's FlyZero Project to set out a revolutionary vision for the future of aviation, where a new generation of aircraft powered by liquid hydrogen keeps businesses, cultures, families and nations connected without the carbon footprint. The Exotopic team provided a detailed safety regulation review of cryogenic components, extensive stakeholder engagement and a comprehensive technical report detailing potential UK supply chain solutions for components to support development of a zero-carbon emission aircraft engine.
TECHNICAL EXPERT SUPPORT
Exotopic run the Satellite Applications Catapult's Technical Expert Support programme, providing 1:2:1 tailored expert support across key areas of the space sector. The support is available to any UK businesses from any sector, at any TRL, interested in the commercial benefits of space data for their business.
MachLab is a comprehensive propulsion test and research facility that offers testing capabilities of earth-storable and cryogenic rocket engines of up to 10kN. The facility will also offer ancillary testing capabilities to support a wide range of propulsion systems at various technology readiness levels. The project also pursues long-term goals of designing the first UK propellant densification system and high-thrust test facilities for full scale launch vehicles.
The ESERO-Ireland annual CanSat Competitions offer students aged 14+ the chance to work on a small-scale space project, creating and launching their own simulation of a satellite. DSUK acted as Launch Service Provider for the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 ESERO-Ireland National Final Event at Emo Court, Dublin, performing successful launches that allowed the participants to improve their knowledge about science, space and engineering.
Project investigating potential consumer markets for green hydrogen in the Argyll & Bute region and how to implement the production and distribution of green hydrogen on the Machrihanish Airbase Community Company site. This included a technical design document outlining the feasibility of constructing a hydrogen liquefaction plant, complemented by market engagement to understand the current and future demand for LH2 in the UK.
